A Web Copywriting Tip by Nick Usborne
A major challenge you face when sending out an email or newsletter is achieving credibility.
Will your readers trust you? Will your email be viewed as a commercial pitch, or as a trustworthy communication from an individual?
It’s an important question.
If your emails and newsletters are seen as coming from an individual who can be trusted, then your subscriber retention and conversion rates will very likely be much higher.
I say “very likely” simply because there are no absolutes in marketing. There are always exceptions.
But in the majority of cases, the voice of a sincere individual will generate more trust than the cold voice of a corporation.
How do you build trust in this way?
There are a number of ways. But one of the simplest and most effective ways is to put your name at the end of the email message and add your personal contact information.
At least add your own email address. Better still, add your phone number as well.
When you do that, it sends a very strong signal to the reader. It says you are not hiding behind the technology of the web. It says you are taking full responsibility for every word you have written. It says you are real, accessible and genuine.
Email is a very powerful medium which is usually not used to its full advantage.
By adding your personal contact information at the end of every email or newsletter, you will be sending a powerful message to your readers...and will reap the financial rewards that come with the trust they will feel.
