A Web Copywriting Tip by Nick Usborne
It doesn't matter what it is... the same principle holds true for a fireworks display, a movie, a speech, a rock concert, a print ad, a circus show, a business presentation or a web page or email.
You need to start strong and finish strong.
Grab their attention when you begin, and make them gasp when you finish.
Always use the very best material you have at the beginning and at the end.
You know it feels when the ending is weak. Think of a few movies, a presentation at a conference or the last fireworks display you saw.
If the finish is weak, then you walk away disappointed. You forget the strong opening, you forget the great stuff that followed...all you remember is that the ending was a letdown.
How does this apply to the web?
Think of a web page as a story, a performance or a show.
Care is often taken to create a strong opening. But when did you last see a web page with a strong close? When did you last see a web page that did anything other that close with a whimper?
Think about that...and think about how the messages on your web pages could be structured to have a stronger ending.
