A Web Copywriting Tip by Nick Usborne
Here are 3 tips in one:
1. Make the content of your email interesting
This may sound obvious, but way too many emails are little more than virtual junk mail. The more interesting, useful and engaging your content...the more likely you will hold your readers' attention...right through to clicking on a link.
2. Make the email content and the link forward relevant
In other words, if the content of your email is all about organic coffee from Central America, a link to a web site page that talks more about organic coffee from Central America makes a lot of sense. A link to a page about teas from India will probably get a much lower click-through rate.
3. Limit the number of links in each email
It's tempting to add numerous links within an email, in the hope that "something" will interest each reader.
That doesn't work very well...simply because people become confused by too many choices.
Far better to write great content, and then add just one, two or three highly relevant links to your site.
That way you keep the reader engaged on the one subject thread, and are more likely to motivate them to click forward and read some additional relevant content on your site...and hopefully make a purchase.
