A Web Copywriting Tip by Nick Usborne
I have been experimenting with the number and sequence of outbound links in emails and newsletters.
There is a temptation to add numerous links back to our sites in every email and newsletter we send out. However, what I am finding is that the total click-through rate increases when you include just one or two links per communication.
Also, the first link will typically get significantly more clicks than the second or third links, regardless of the apparent importance of the links.
This isn't scientific evidence, just my own experience over a number of tests.
You may want to try this yourself.
