Sample Resignation Letters

Perhaps surprisingly, a resignation letter can have a big impact on your future career.

When you first think about writing a resignation letter, you might think it's as simple as saying, "Good bye!"

In fact, the quality of your resingation letter can have quite an impact on your career.

Word travels fast in any industry. And if you write a resignation letter that is rude, disrespectful or inapproriate in some way, other people will get to hear about...maybe even people in the next company you work for.

When you write a resignation letter you need to follow a few pointers:

- Be clear. Make it absolutely clear that your letter of resignation is exactly that - a letter that gives formal notice of the end of your employment agreement.

- Be grateful. Thank your employer for all that you have learned during your time at the company.

- Be respectful. Maybe things didn't work out too well for you in the company, but that's no reason to let off steam in your letter of resignation. Keep the letter simple, keep it clear and keep it respectful.
